The countdown has begun!
I have been counting down now for a few weeks. Watching as the number continues to get smaller as the time approaches when I will be home again.
I have gone through quite a bit since August. Experienced a hurricane. Hopefully my first and last!!! It wasn't as traumatizing as I thought it would be. I still have a plywood ceiling, but other than that life has been back to normal for quite some time now. I can't believe i really lived without power for a full month. It just seemed so normal while I was doing it! I'm so glad to be back in the 21st century.
Another exciting new thing for me since August was actually teaching. I got my first experience at really being in control of my very own classroom, and I love it. No matter what's going on in my life as soon as I get to taht classroom, say good morning class and hear the students say Good morning Miss Baran, all of my distractions fade away. I love those kids so much. i have seen incredible improvement in the attitude and behavior of one of my students and they are all succeeding tremendously wiht their reading. (Reading is big problem in Jamaica)
I also have a boyfriend. that is new and exciting. Since October 10th we have been having a wonderful long distance relationship. he's back in Saskatoon working and waiting for me to come home again at Christmas. His name is Travis Sorenson. And he's wonderful!
I got wireless internet on my laptop. It actually was in my budget so I thought about it and decided that it's worth it. The base still doesnt have their internet yet. The cable company is taking a VERY long time to fix it, so it has been great since i got my own internet. Plus it helps with the distance between me and my loved ones.
God Bless, and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Kristen
