Thanksgiving/ football
Some fun stuff is going on here at Stone's Hope!!!!
First of all we just had our very first annual Thanksgiving. We had it last night. We tried to find a date in between the Canadian and American Thanksgiving, and then we all celebrated it together, along with the jamaicans of course. It was a really great night. My day started in the morning trying to figure out the game that Roxann, Becky and I were gonna do that evening. We were trying to find American and Canadian Trivia to ask in a Family Feud sort of format. The internet just happened to be having one of it's naughty days, and it wasn't working properly (I have no idea why) so we eventually found some encyclopedias from the 1960's and used those. Then at about 11:00 I started to decorate the dining area. Becky and I arranged the seating for 30 people into one big square so that we could eat like one big happy family. Then Alton and Nick went and got some gorgeous wild flowers and we put them around the tables. We also put up the Canadian, American and Jamaican flags. It turned out very nicely.
The day had just begun at this point. Then Becky and I started to make our food for that evening. We made scalloped potatoes, dressing and gravy for the turkey. It all turned out excellent. We had made butter tarts the night before for dessert. Which Becky continues to say are the best butter tarts that she's ever had. I must say I am turning out to be quite the chef!!!!
Everyone showed up around 4:00 with their food and we set it all out and began our wonderful night. We ate so much wonderful food, and thanked the Lord for all that He had done for us. The evening was a huge success and it's always encouraging to hear everyone's things that they're thankful for. God has been doing alot in all of our lives.
The next exciting thing that is happening is that my soccer team is having their first (unofficial) game on the 24th. None of these boys have played in a real football match, so I am going through all of the little details about the game with them in these next practices. Like throw-ins, free- kicks, corner kicks, etc. Saturday's practice went very well, the boys are all very bright and eager to learn. I am loving them more and more everyday. They're wonderful boys.
Please pray that the boys will be ready for the big game and that they'll really enjoy themselves. I know that God will be with us and everything will be awesome!!!
Well...it's been real. Peace out!!!
Blessings, Kristen
