Greetings one and all!
Last week I learned about a program that is currently being used all over the world in community development called COMMUNITY HEALTH EVANGELISM (CHE). I'll just give you a short overview of all that I learned last week. Basically it was a practical way of implementing change in a community. We learned how to enter into the community through prayer, creating relationships, finding key persons in the community, and sharing our vision with the people. We also learned a structure that could be used in community development and is working very well for C.H.E. It includes us as community transformers / workers for Christ going in with the vision for a transformed community, getting the people in the community behind us and working with us, then forming a committee out of the people from the community and then those committee members choosing another group of people from the community that would really be the hands on people. There were alot more specifics that we went through last week but I won't get into all of that.
It wasn't the most interesting week for me because I don't have a community on my heart that I really want to go into and work with, but there are alot of people in my school that do and so it was very relevant for them. For example Daniel and Barbara are going to Mexico for their outreach and they really are looking to apply C.H.E. principles when they go, and Jeff is planning on going back to the Phillipines to work with a community their that he has a heart for. I did me best to pay attention in class because maybe one day I will find a community that really needs help and then I will have the tools to take that community to the potential that God has for it.
In other news I talked to Jermaine last week Wednesday which was great. But since then his cell phone (that he gave me to use while he's gone) isn't working properly. It won't let me make any calls. Everything else on it works but I can't make outgoing calls or receive any. So I've been missing him but haven't been able to reach him. (The number that I have for him isn't working on anyone else's phone either) He's probably in the village by now anyway, where there may not be any reception for the phone so maybe that's the problem. But I will be patient and hope that he can get ahold of me soon. He's probably wondering why i haven't called him and so I'm hoping that he calls me.
Some of you may know Chandra Unick. She is visiting her sister right now and together they are touring the Carribbean, so this Friday the 12th they are coming here to Jamaica. I'm really excited, it'll be the first time that someone from home sees me in my "new home". Pray for her for a safe trip!
I sent out update letters about what's going on with me after this school and asking for prayer and financial support. If you didn't receive one let me know in the comment section and give me your e-mail and I'll get it to you asap. I also have an address for anyone who would like to support me financially.
Thanks so much, I hope you enjoy reading about what's going on in my life. Don't forget to leave me a message, I love getting them!
Bless UP!!!!
