WORLDVIEW

Hey everyone! My thumb is finally feeling a little bit better so I thought taht I would share with you about my teaching from last week. I learned ALOT of different things all pertaining to worldview. There are 3 main points that I want to talk about. The first one is that we ALL have a worldview, or another word for it is mind-set. There are 3 major worldviews; animism (believe the world is just spiritual), secularism (believe the world is only physical/natural), and biblical theism (believe's spiritual and physical is real). Worldview's can be compared to a set of glasses for the mind; we don't even realize we have them on but we're looking through them all day long. Our worldview's shape how we see the world and what we do with the world. The bottom line is that God desires for us to have his set of lenses. He wants us to see the world from his perspective.
The second thing that I took away from last week is that beliefs have consequences. It's a simple, yet profound truth. Our beliefs form our values (what we think is important), which form our behavior (we'll take care of the things that we value, but if we don't value it we won't take care of it or even pay attention to it) which therefore has consequences. One of the examples we used was about abortion. If someone believes that what is inside a woman's womb is merely tissue, then that person won't value that tissue, because that's all it is. It's not a valuable human life. So if someone gets pregnant unexpectedly then it would be an easy decision for them to have an abortion. Which will have major consequences to that person...especially spiritually. Whereas someone who believes that God forms us in our mother's womb (psalm 139:13+14) and that it is a human life inside that mother's womb, they will value that child and know that it has a purpose and they will not have an abortion...even if it is unexpected. And that decision will have consequences...the child will live. Simple, yet profound truth!!!
The third thing that I took away from last week is that often times when we're telling others about God (evangelising) we tell them about Christ and leave out the rest of the bible. That's not how it should be. The bible is a story. It flows like a book. Here's how our teacher (Darrow Miller) thought that the bible would be if it were a chapter book.
CHAP 1 - Creation - God created everything out of nothing.
-Adam and Eve were given the mandate to multiply and have dominion
over the world, and this is still our mandate today.
CHAP 2 - Rebellion - death enters the world physically and spiritually
- evil enters the world morally and naturally (childbirth pain, flood, etc)
CHAP 3-9 - The Mission - The 10 commandments are the foundations to build free and
just societies
- we are blessed to bless others (Gen 12:2+3)
-restoration and redemption
CHAP 10 - The Gospels - this is the most important chapter
-life, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ
-JC lived the life that none of us could. He conquered death (LIFE
conquered death)
-He died the death that we deserve
CHAP 11 - The Task - (Matt 28: 18-20) We are to make DISCIPLES of all nations. The task
begins with evangelism, then church planting and ends with
DISCIPLED nations!
- if the church isn't discipling the nation, the nation will disciple the church
CHAP 12 - The Wedding - The return of the king (Rev 19:6-9)
-Bride (us, the church) is getting herself ready with righteous acts
-Rev 21:23-26
-Kings of all NATIONS will bring the glory and splendor of their nation
to the wedding

This is the whole story! It begins with creation and ends at a wedding! The problem is that we don't tell the whole story!

Blessings!
Kristen
